LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
Lymphoedema can occur through injuries, operations with strong scarring, illnesses in the area of the lymph system or due to orthopedic induced tension changes in the tissue producing lympheodema.
This is physiological and a normal process of wound healing after an injury. Various pre-illnesses or strong changes in the connective tissue can certainly lead to congestion of lymph fluids in the tissue. This prevents the transport of the cell’s degradation products, the tissue becomes more susceptible to infections, is less mobile and the patient feels impaired.
This is where lymphatic drainage can help to decongest the blockage of the affected body part, and thus free the same area of toxins.
Naturally, the cause of the lymphoedema should be treated at the same time, when possible, since it is only then that the treatment is successful long-term. Here, as a rule, a combination of lymphatic drainage and osteopathy is highly recommended.
